The lunatic e.V. is a non-profit association that enables about 25 students every year to organize the lunatic festival independently and on a voluntary basis as part of a learning project. Some of you may already be familiar with it, but we would still like to give you some key data: The team is newly composed every year, consists of people with varying degrees of previous experience and is supported in its work by our network from the association. At several weekly meetings and workshops, the students work intensively on the realization of the festival from October to June, deciding according to the consensus principle. This is sometimes very time-consuming and not feasible for everyone besides studies, work and other commitments and appointments.

Since 25 is not enough to put together a whole festival alone, we are looking for eight to ten curious people who would like to look behind the scenes and get involved for a shorter period of time (or longer by continuing in one of the coming years). The following call for applications is interesting for you if you want to gain experience in topics such as festival organization, cultural mediation as well as project work. You can work in different areas – depending on where you already have experience or where you would like to take on responsibility. For example, you could get involved in the following areas: Program design and execution, production and site design, arts and culture outreach, hospitality management, and finance.

If you don’t yet have an idea of what you’re interested in or what the areas exactly entail, you can also commit yourself at a later date. Of course, we are still interested in whether your heart already beats for something or if one area of work particularly appeals to you.

Since October, the new team of 25 people has been working on the realization of the lunatic Festival 2022 in the areas of production & site design, music, art, culture, press & public relations, finance & guest management, and is implementing concrete ideas and concepts. Nevertheless, there is still room for manoeuvre and opportunities to get involved in many areas. Apart from the festival work, there have been and still are various smaller lunatic events throughout the year: from parties to exhibitions and cultural events. With this project we would also like to give you the opportunity to plan a pre-event or after-show in your own small team and to bring in your own topics and gain experience.

If that sounds exciting to you, you are at least 18 years old and can imagine working in one of the teams from mid-March to mid-June as well as organizing yourself in your small team, then we look forward to receiving your application!

Please note that there will be many meetings during this period, which often fall on weekends. We consider all of the following dates as obligatory, so that you can get a good insight into the work of lunatic e.V. and the team remains able to work. The workshops include a (historical) review of the work of lunatics, input on values and topics that are important to us in the association, basics on event organization and also concrete planning meetings. If you can’t make it to one of the dates but would still like to join us, please contact us and we will try to find a solution together.

For the concrete planning of your own event – depending on how far you get during the fixed dates – self-organized meetings will be added. In addition, there are also meetings with the small teams from the festival team, where you can work on the lunatic festival. These are usually scheduled weekly, but also by personal arrangement. If you have your own event, there will always be things to do here and there outside of the planning meetings, and more often you will have to put your heads together.
As you can see, the whole thing can be very time-consuming. If you are willing and able to invest this time, please write to lunatinum@lunatic-festival.de by 27.02.2022 at the latest, explaining on about one page why you are interested in the project, whether you already have previous experience and whether there are any areas that particularly interest you. Don’t worry too much about formatting or who to address it to, we’re all about the content!
